Promote Deeper Sleep With CBD Bath Bombs

Promote Deeper Sleep With CBD Bath Bombs

From CBDMD’s Web Site

There’s plenty to keep a person awake at night these days, but sleep is more important than ever.

Getting enough rest is crucial to the whole-body health that helps keep your immune system functioning, which, in turn, enables you to fight off infectious diseases. Moreover, you don’t just need six to eight hours of sleep a night, but good sleep – the kind you can’t just buy with sleeping pills.

Even without the scary headlines, many things can interfere with that. Poor sleep habits and chronic pain are among the most common. But fortunately, you can address both problems by building a nightly routine that includes a hot bath with CBD bath bombs.

Read on about how to best use CBD bath bombs for sleep, and how not only the bombs but the bath itself can help you get some shuteye. We’ll also get into using CBD bath bombs for minor aches and pains, which can also contribute to a more restful night.

Why Baths Are Good For You

On top of keeping us all clean, baths have been making people feel better for thousands of years. Back before indoor plumbing, people would travel long distances to natural hot springs said to have therapeutic powers.

Even today, we’re still learning about the benefits of baths. The chief effect of soaking in hot water is that it dilates your blood vessels, helping your muscles to relax and increasing blood flow to all parts of your body.

These effects help lower your blood pressure, which has all kinds of benefits. And a new study found that bathing appears to cut the risk of heart disease and stroke for that reason.

But as far as sleep goes, this has other benefits. It generally helps to relax you. And can help with many minor aches, especially those caused by muscle stiffness and arthritis. Blood promotes healing by nourishing your body’s tissues so they can repair and regenerate.

This dilation of blood vessels can also make the air feel colder once you get out of the tub because that’s also how your body sheds heat. However, that might actually help you to sleep.

Last year, published research on bathing and sleep found that a hot bath taken one to two hours before bed improved sleep. The likely explanation is that your brain picks up on the natural signals of nightfall, such as darkness and coolness, to generate melatonin, a hormone that tells you it’s time for bed.

When you take a hot bath, you temporarily raise your body temperature, then cause it to drop again once you get out. This change mimics the natural evening cooling and stimulates melatonin production.

What a CBD Bath Bomb Does For Sleep

So, let’s start with the basics: what’s in a bath bomb, anyway?

The stuff that makes bath bombs “explode” is bicarbonate of soda with citric acid, which gives off carbon dioxide to create fizzy bubbles when it hits the water. But that’s just for fun: the active ingredients in cbdMD’s CBD Bath Bombs are as follows.

Pure, THC-Free CBD

Each of our bath bombs contains 100 mg of CBD. Some other companies can say the same – but not all CBD is alike.

CBD comes from the cannabis plant, which, if we’re honest, is best known for getting people stoned. That’s due to the THC that naturally occurs in cannabis. However, breeders have been able to develop a form of cannabis with little or no THC, which the government defines as industrial hemp

cbdMD draws out the CBD from industrial hemp through a process that ensures that the THC, if it’s there at all, is below any detectable level. That means both our products are legal at the federal level and aren’t going to make you fail a drug test.

But if our CBD doesn’t get you stoned, can it still relax you? As the Magic 8 Ball would say, “Signs point to yes!”

Research indicates that CBD can have calming effects, especially in stressful situations like public speaking. Thousands of users also testify that it helps them chill out.

At the same time, CBD doesn’t depress the central nervous system the way that many popular sedatives do. This advantage decreases the risk of impaired functioning and certain sleep disorders like sleep apnea.

Epsom Salt

Remember those natural springs that people have long visited for their health? Well, one of them is in the town of Epsom, England.

Epsom’s springs are high in magnesium sulfate, an alkaline substance that, taken internally, is an over-the-counter laxative. However, many people also have found that bathing in it helps ease muscle and joint pain, as well as skin irritations. So we included it in our CBD bath bomb for minor aches.

Essential Oils

Essential oils in bath bombs can provide benefits both by inhalation and absorption through the skin. There are many, many essential oils out there, but at cbdMD, we use three classics:

  • Lavender has germ-killing powers that make it popular in cleaning products, which can also help fight infections in people. Lavender tea can help relieve digestive problems, and when applied topically, lavender oil can ease painful areas. Inhaling lavender in aromatherapy, such as with a lavender and CBD bath bomb, also seems to contribute to the signs of anxiety and depression.
  • Eucalyptus, long a staple of aboriginal Australian medicine, has gone on to become a commonplace of over-the-counter treatments in the West. Eucalyptus oil has antibiotic and pain-killing powers, so it can be helpful aromatherapy if you’re feeling under the weather. Many also swear by it as a way to clear up congestion.
  • Frankincense, a staple of ancient churches and religious rites due to its otherworldly scent, has also proven handy for fighting inflammation, and there’s some evidence it can help people with chronic asthma.

As you can see, this combination of ingredients can both help you relax and address health issues that might be keeping you awake, making for an ideal CBD bath bomb for sleep.

Creating Good Sleep Habits

As noted above, research indicates that a bath taken between one and two hours before bedtime will help stimulate melatonin production. But there are other ways to get your body clock in order too.

One way is to go to bed around the same time every night, even if you don’t need to get up early in the morning. While the differences between morning people and night owls are partly inborn, you can adjust your inner schedule somewhat if you stick to it.

Darkness also seems to trigger melatonin, not surprisingly. Try to avoid using unnecessary artificial lights as you near bedtime, and dim your screens if you must use them at all. Avoiding excess noise, if you can, also helps.

And to build on the temperature benefits of bathing, try to keep your bedroom relatively cool. If you’re like me, you’re prone to feeling chilly when you go to bed, but don’t resolve that problem by keeping the ambient temperature up. Try instead to make your bed warmer, or yourself warmer with heavier sleepwear. You may find that a good night’s sleep warms you up anyway.

Finally, try to avoid mind-altering chemicals before bedtime. A glass of wine might help you unwind, but too much alcohol before bed can disturb your sleep by creating a rebound of energy in the middle of the night.

And as for caffeine – well, you already know that, right? And yet people often insist that it doesn’t have the same effect on them as it does on others, even when they have trouble sleeping. It seems to activate the same part of the ego that insists it can drink you under the table.

But if you are a habitual evening coffee drinker, try switching it up with decaf, tea, or some other non-stimulating beverage. It may make more difference than you think.

Taking Melatonin Directly

So, you’ve got a nice routine going with a rejuvenating CBD bath bomb for sleep, darkness, quiet, and all the rest. There still might be times when you have trouble sleeping, such as when you’re traveling, under extra stress, or trying to “spring forward.”

Under such circumstances, you may want to take melatonin by ingestion. Since the 1990s, it’s been available over the counter as a health supplement, and some research supports its usefulness for jet lag in particular.

At cbdMD, we’ve incorporated it into our award-winning CBD and melatonin option: CBD PM. This product offers the calming benefits of melatonin and CBD oil together, combined with a proprietary blend of soothing herbs. The tincture even won Product of the Year in 2020 based on an independent survey of 40,000 consumers conducted by Kantar.

If the tincture isn’t for you, CBD PM is also available in CBD capsule form. Just be sure to consult your physician before taking CBD internally, because it might interfere with the effectiveness of certain medications.

Working A new Life New Me

I have been on medical leave since the beginning of December 2019 And have finally gotten cleared to return to work, that same day one ( yes I have 2 jobs plus a couple online “business” ) closed down for the coronavirus. My other job is working in a grocery store is not planning on closing .

So my first job is a casino, and from what I am reading on casino workers group sites is that a lot of the casinos outside of vegas have closed down voluntarily. I then started hearing complaints from regular players whining about the casinos closings, and I really don’t think they get it . The majority of people don’t understand that casinos are hot spots for infections of all types, on a regular basis . Even with wiping down, cleaning surfaces, washing hands, and wearing gloves is just unrealistic because of the shear volume of the people entering casinos on a daily basis. The exchange of money, touching of chips, touching buttons on slot machines, cups, glasses etc. all over the casino is just transferring diseases, not only to other players, but to workers also who transfer it to other workers. Now back to me “THis Sucks” I get cleared for work, “semi” and I have to wait another two weeks or more. I will say though better safe the sorry on a few points, not only with the virus, but with my recovery, i’m still swollen and in some pain. I had a bi-pass on my leg and a toe removed, so i may be cleared for work but am I ready.

The Friendliest

stores in town

My second job is a grocery store, and as I said they are not planning on closing. The plan is to keep the supply line open, so no need on stock piling ( this is not the zombie apocalypse ) . I do think they need to start getting more aggressive with limiting people in the stores – I think they need to make it home delivery and curb side pick-up only, like restaurants are take out and home delivery or drive -thru only. Work to make limited contact. I have seen People walk around the stores for at least thirty minutes or more on a regular weekly basis doing their normal shopping, now I have noticed some are doing it longer and where they did it weekly they are doing it daily. If you need to get out – please walk around your neighborhood, not a store, limit your time and buy only what you need.

Ok little rant over .

At this time They were glad when I came back even though i’m moving slow and did my first day of 8 hours and only 5 the next day because my back, leg and foot were just hurting to bad. I know with all the madness that’s been going on they are relived just to have a body that knows how to do somethings without having to be totally trained, after 3 months its like needing to be retrained ( get back into the flow ) , and somethings have changed. I am taking it slow and they are working with me, but i also told them this is only a test to see if I can get back to a standing job or if i will have to look for something where im not standing so much.

While I was out at home I started to look some affiliate marketing ideas, the first one i joined is The Gourmet Cupboard. It was referred to me by my sister as a simple was to get into something to hopefully make some money without the pressure to sell, sell, sell like some . The products are flavorful ( yes have tried quite a few), easy to use ( just add a few ingredients such as sour cream, water, cream cheese, ground meat, etc) , and cost effective ( saves from having to buy all the different seasonings that you may only use once, or not at all, or forget to get( and wonder what your dish is missing ) . What I like about The gourmet cupboard is that it is a small daughter mom type company with good values. They don’t have the pressure sales like some other companies do, They have a fundraiser option that I like to promote. They also have where you can set your own prices when you sell product from home, such as doing home parties ,events, or setting up your own gift baskets, selling packages. They do have hostess packages that change monthly (like most of these companies) and monthly packages. They also offer online parties ( and at this time can be something to do other than live parties). They have recipes to share other then whats on the back of the packages. Plus some innovative distributors have made different diet (Keto, Low Carb) facebook sites to share recipes using The Gourmet Cupboard . Here is one from The Gourmet Cupboard Weight Loss and Healthy Eating Recipes

Or something not so healthy

The next company i got involved with is CBDMD . I felt like I needed something more, something where I could potentially earn a decent commision on, but I also something I believed in and that would benefit others. I do believe in the health benefits of natural products ( though not willing to go sit naked in a cloth tent drinking who knows what out of a guano bowl, to get rid of the evil spirits, (I know to much)), but i’m also not willing to take 50+ supplements or eat a crazy diet a day to stay healthy. I have ( and i’m sure most of you ), as recreational, smoked (or had edibles made from) marijuana (Pot) before, and very much enjoyed it. Though for the sake of maintaining a good job I have refrained from using it for the past 20+years ( I have seen coworkers , and managers terminated over it ), and for me the “high” was not worth my job. When CBD first hit the market I was skeptical just just like many people about not only the benefits but also the claim about no THC or no traceable THC. I did my research, and found much information some was supported by scientific fact while other information was basic hearsay that even though being researched the finding were not out yet, or have not been substantiated by the FDA. Though scientific journals have reported findings from different research studies on a wide range of the different benefits of CBD, I myself was only interested in pain management, I have two herniated discs in my lower back, along with a safer alternative to the current prescribed pain regiment by my Doctor, that’s basically barbiturates. At this point I could sit and claim I found the golden egg, the fountain to all that is good and holy, but I wont. I will say that with daily use CBD has worked the way I had hoped for by helping to relive the pain in my back and legs, but it has also helped in relieving some of the stress i have felt. I’m not sure if its from life in general, or from the fact of having multiple chronic illnesses ( sometimes it just gets to where I feel like I want to sit in a dark room and say fuck it ( not like killing myself , Just fuck it), for a while. Then I pull myself up and out of it, put on my big boy panties and walk out into the world. That is the other thing CBD has helped me do is be able to say FUCK IT while out in the world and be able to move forward.

I do believe in CBD as a helpful benefit for me without the worry of drug test or the “high” disability it would cause at work, and that’s why I started looking into CBD as an Affiliate Marketer. There were so many different companies offering programs, how do I chose ? I felt I wanted one who had the most to offer not just a few bottles of liquid of varying degrees of potency, one with third party testing . A decent offering of each product line and pet line. Also one that was put together well – professional nice packaging, professional website. I know I didn’t want one where the packaging looked like it came from some hippy store ( Ok I do like head shops and hippy stores, i just feel when selling products clean lines and simple colors sell better). I also wanted one that didn’t sell on claims that were not established by the FDA, because CBD is considered a supplement it is not governed by the FDA. There are independent studies and over the top personal claims all over the web and some CBD companies use those as health benefits, and that’s good for them, I just didn’t want to lead anyone on some false hope, just personal experiences. CBDMD also has two product of the year awards one for their sleep aid CBD PM and the other for their pain relief gel CBD Freeze Pain Relief Gel

So I have two jobs plus two online business so far and thought I didn’t have enough on my plate as it was that i decided to see about becoming an affiliate for Amazon. I know I just started and will see how it goes. I figured I can post thing , probably mostly cooking things along with post about the gourmet cupboard mixes. I could also post about the some of the deals and specials that Amazon has. Or even about some of the products I have used or are using. What I hope is as this is a learning experience I can grow a business that not only offers great products, but that has a reliable following of steady customers.

CBD Oil and Sleep Apnea: Does It Help?

 from cbdMD blog

Like a thief in the night, sleep apnea has a way of robbing people without them realizing it. All you know is that you’re tired and cranky during the daytime, even though it seems like you had a full night’s sleep.

Fortunately, awareness of the condition has increased dramatically in the last few decades. Along with that has come increased interest in alternative treatments to the cumbersome medical devices that currently form the treatment standard. And inevitably, that interest includes the hottest new item in wellness: CBD.

There’s already such a thing as CBD oil for sleep, to help people maintain their regular sleep cycles. But what about sleep apnea and CBD oil? Could that be the combo of your dreams?

What Is Sleep Apnea?

Before we plunge into the subject of CBD and sleep apnea, let’s look at the science on the ailment.

Sleep apnea is a condition where you don’t breathe properly when you sleep. There may be periods of shallow breathing or several-second pauses where you don’t breathe at all. These disruptions often happen between stretches of snoring and snorting, so if you’re a big snorer, your chances of having the disease are much higher.

Once your body realizes it’s not getting enough oxygen, you wake up a little – not enough to remember, but enough to clear your throat and start breathing again. This reaction means that even if you sleep seven or eight hours a night, you don’t sleep soundly, meaning you can still suffer the symptoms of sleep deprivation.

Medical science recognizes three kinds of sleep apnea.

  • Obstructive sleep apnea happens when the soft tissue of the throat collapses and obstructs the airway during sleep. This type is, by far, the most common.
  • Central sleep apnea is a result of the brain failing to signal to the lungs that it’s time to breathe.
  • A combination of the two is called complex sleep apnea syndrome.

What Causes Sleep Apnea?

The cause of sleep apnea depends on the type.

Obstructive sleep apnea comes from a narrowed airway to the lungs, which can come from a variety of things. Some people are born with this due to having big necks, large tonsils, or unusually shaped jaws. People susceptible to nasal congestion and allergies are also more likely to get it.

Behavior can also play a role. Being overweight can cause a thickening of the neck and create similar problems. Smoking narrows the air passages as well. And the use of alcohol and sedatives before bed causes the throat muscles to relax and potentially collapse.

Central sleep apnea doesn’t always have a clear cause, but most often, it appears in people who’ve had a stroke or heart failure. Using opioid drugs also raises the risk of central sleep apnea, as does living at a high altitude with thin air.

Who Gets Sleep Apnea?

An estimated 22 million Americans have sleep apnea, but it’s difficult to know the precise number because many sufferers don’t realize they have it. Any person can get it, but it’s most likely if you:

  • Are male
  • Are overweight
  • Are over age 40
  • Have a large neck, tonsils, or tongue
  • Have relatives with sleep apnea
  • Have allergies or sinus problems
  • Drink, smoke, or use sedative drugs
  • Live at a high altitude

How Do I Know If I Have Sleep Apnea?

You need a doctor’s diagnosis to know for sure, but there are some definite warning signs of sleep apnea.

If you have a bed partner, they may notice you sleeping restlessly and snorting or snoring – even though central sleep apnea usually doesn’t induce snoring. You might also wake up at night feeling short of breath or find yourself with a headache in the morning due to oxygen deprivation. Waking up with a sore or dry throat is also a common symptom.

Mostly, though, the symptoms of sleep apnea are from not getting enough sleep: fatigue, moodiness, and lack of energy. If you think you’re sleeping a good six to eight hours a night, but you still feel this way, it’s worth investigating.

The Dangers of Poor Sleep

The trouble with sleep apnea isn’t just that you might not be getting the total amount of sleep you need. It’s that healthy sleep involves a series of cycles, roughly 90 minutes in length, that include moving from light to deep sleep, which is when you dream, and back again. When breathing problems disrupt those healthy cycles, all sorts of bad consequences happen.

Some of those consequences are obvious: you’re low on energy and not thinking clearly, which can make you moody and less productive and, more seriously, increases the risk of car crashes and other dangerous accidents.

However, some effects of inadequate sleep are more insidious. Research has linked several chronic diseases to it:

  • Cardiovascular disease: sleep apnea heightens the risk of heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke, and arrhythmias.
  • Diabetes: getting good sleep seems to help people with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar, while lack of sleep worsens symptoms.
  • Obesity: lack of sleep leads to metabolic changes that encourage obesity, especially in children. Many people find it easier to control food cravings when they’ve had enough sleep.
  • Liver disease: people with sleep apnea are more likely to have problems with liver function and show signs of scarring.

Sleep apnea can be bad for your mental health as well. A 2012 study of sleep-apnea patients found that more than half of them suffered from depression and anxiety.

But does that mean that the apnea caused the depression and anxiety, or is it the other way around? Or some of both? That isn’t so clear, but sleep apnea puts you under some stress, what with the repeated oxygen deprivation setting off your body’s alarms and partially waking you up.

It’s also true that, in that state between awake and asleep, some bizarre things can happen.

Many people in that state experience sleep paralysis, in which they’re aware that they’re lying in their beds, but they can’t move. Often this goes along with frightening hallucinations that seem much more real than normal dreams: people think they’re being dragged out of bed or flying through the air and sometimes receiving creepy visitors.

Sometimes their paralysis seems to be caused by someone pinning them down. In the old days, people thought these were demons; nowadays, sleep paralysis is a suspected cause of alien-abduction stories.

On top of that, many substances that people use to soothe their anxieties can make sleep apnea worse. As noted earlier, alcohol and sedatives both depress the central nervous system, which can induce or exacerbate obstructive sleep apnea by relaxing the throat to the point where it collapses. So what’s a nervous sleep apnea sufferer to do?

That’s where CBD comes in.

CBD Oil and Sleep Apnea – What’s the Connection?

There’s no research on CBD and sleep apnea directly, but there has been a fair bit of study on CBD in connection with anxiety. Like other compounds within the cannabis plant, it interacts with the endocannabinoid system, a sort of communication network within your nervous system.

The endocannabinoid system regulates many functions of the body and mind, including mood. People have been using whole cannabis to mellow out for thousands of years, and modern research indicates its effect on the endocannabinoid system may be the reason.

CBD by itself is still not an approved treatment for any mood disorder, but early studies suggest that it can help people manage stressful situations, such as public speaking. Plus, it has several advantages over whole cannabis.

For one, it does not include THC, the cannabinoid responsible for the “high” associated with marijuana. In fact, to be federally legal in the United States, CBD must come from hemp, a breed of cannabis with little or no THC. Hemp-derived CBD is therefore much more widely available than marijuana, whose legality depends on where you live.

But from the standpoint of CBD and sleep apnea, the most important advantage is that it doesn’t depress the central nervous system. Studies have not shown any form of impaired functioning resulting from people taking CBD alone. Therefore, combining sleep apnea and CBD oil probably won’t produce the vicious circle that alcohol and sedatives often do.

Another sleep aid that doesn’t depress the central nervous system is melatonin. This compound is a hormone that your body naturally produces to regulate your regular daily sleep/wake cycles. Since the 1990s, it’s become a popular over-the-counter supplement used for jet lag and occasional insomnia.

Naturally, CBD oil and melatonin are now available to help people sleep without the dangers of sedatives.

CBD and Sleep Apnea Options

While anxiety is only a side component of sleep apnea for many people, addressing it can also help make the lifestyle changes necessary to combat the disease. Among them:

  • Cut back drinking and smoking

The problems with alcohol I discussed earlier, but smoking can also contribute to apnea by narrowing your airways.

  • Lose weight if you need to

Excess flesh around the neck can weigh down your air passages and have the same effect as booze. But overeating can also be a vicious cycle since research indicates that people crave food, especially carbs when they’re short of sleep. There is, unfortunately, still no magic pill for weight loss, but regulating mood may help combat stress eating.

  • Exercise

Even if you don’t need to lose weight, this can help ease symptoms and give you more energy.

  • Establish good sleep habits

Try to establish good sleep habits that will help you slumber undisturbed. Keeping your bedroom dark, quiet, and cool can help stimulate your body’s natural melatonin. Allow your living space to get darker as you near bedtime can also help.

  • Sleep on your side rather than your back

If you have trouble training yourself to do that, there are devices available that will vibrate if you roll onto your back during sleep. Or you can go the low-tech route and attach a tennis ball to the back of your pajama top.

If those changes don’t do the trick, physicians can offer more aggressive interventions. Some types of oral appliances help keep your throat open as you sleep, and more elaborate machines can regulate breathing to keep it continuous.

Some types of surgeries can treat obstructive sleep apnea by removing the excess tissue from the throat, repositioning the jaw, or even creating a new opening for breathing with a tracheostomy. For central sleep apnea, certain drugs can stimulate breathing to make up for the malfunction in the brain.

Generally speaking, though, the less invasive the treatment is, the better. Central sleep apnea can also emerge from attempts to treat obstructive sleep apnea with breathing machines, creating complex sleep apnea syndrome.

CBD Oil and Sleep Apnea: Conclusions

If you have sleep apnea or think you do, consult your physician to work out the best approach to treating it. CBD oil – with or without melatonin – can be a supplement to that routine, helping maintain sleep cycles and manage your mood without the side effects of popular “helpers” like drugs and alcohol.

Do tell your doctor if you’re thinking about taking CBD. While CBD generally has a good safety profile, it may interfere with the ways that the liver processes certain other medications, and your doctor should be able to tell you if you’re on one of those.

With CBD becoming increasingly popular, many physicians also have first-hand experience gained from their other patients and can advise you about what’s best for your situation. A proper regimen of lifestyle changes, supplements, and stronger interventions, if necessary, can give you the best night’s sleep you’ve had in years.

I know by now you have heard of CBD, and that it comes from the Hemp plant (marijuana). And you’re probably thinking it’s just some stoner hippy alternative drug to get high with.

That is a mistaken understanding of what CBD is.

Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, is by far one of the most studied compounds of the 116-plus known cannabinoids found in industrial hemp. Being a natural compound of the plant, it can comprise up to 40 percent of hemp. Unlike THC, CBD is non-intoxicating, which means it will not get you high. Ancient civilizations have used various strains of cannabis throughout centuries for their wealth of wellness properties. But due to dramatic shifts in legislation and other influences, cannabinoids became widely unaccepted as an alternative application.
However, as the health and science communities continue to further recognize and accept the properties of different cannabinoids, the prohibitions that once restricted and limited the use of CBD have evolved into protections and freedoms for anyone looking for safe and natural alternatives.

When it comes to buying CBD oil, You can order it safely discreetly online to be delivered right to your door. You don’t have to worry about “going to one of those shops.”

don’t just seek an expensive product in hopes of getting the best in the market. Welcome To My Party

I have written a few post so far, and I think its about time to let everyone in on just a little bit more about myself . I was born and raised in Anchorage Alaska . Alaska’s largest city, , lies between the mountains and the sea There is no other urban area like it.

When I was 15 my parents decided for us to move to a little town in northern Washington State called Sequim. A town between Port Angles and Port Townsend, along the Dungeness River near the base of the Olympic Mountains. Going from a city the size or Anchorage to a town with one flashing red light it was a culture shock, a living hell. This was a teenager thought. I did get into reading a lot, before this I hated reading, it was for me the only escape from the isolation that was brought upon me. Thankfully for me, at the time,we only lived there for about 9 months, though at this time in my life I don’t think I would mind living there again

We next moved down the bigger town of Silverdale Washington.Silverdale is located on the Kitsap Peninsula  It is 9 miles (14 km) northwest of the city of Bremerton and the same distance south of Poulsbo. Silverdale lies at the north tip of Dyes Inlet, which connects it to Bremerton via Sinclair Inlet and to the Pacific Ocean via Port Orchard and Puget Sound. Silverdale actually has a few full three color stop lights, and a mall, but still had that small town feel to me. I did work to get out of that shell of isolation that I put around myself and made some friends, some I even keep in contact with to this day. I do miss certain things like hanging out all night at Elsie Restaurant drinking coffee till 5am and their 2 – 4-1 Elsie night loved the Elsie burger. Sorry to say though after both Elsie and Joe passed the kids closed the place from what I hear.

About 1991 I moved to Ocean Springs Mississippi. Ocean Springs is 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Biloxi and west of Gautier. Ocean Springs has that small southern town feel , but not the small southern town attitude, it had a progressive feel, not so much as a total liberal ideal, but more progressive then one would think of a southern town. I had a lot of first there. First car, Coming Out, First Gay Bar, First boyfriend, First Casino Job, First Hurricane (storm + drink). So many great memories. Would love to go back.

All the fun came crashing to an end in 2005 when Katrina came to town like a cracked out tranny wore looking for the John that stiffed her. I had no damage to my place, just my job was washed up on the other side of the highway and a mile down from where it was supposed to be. I had no way of knowing how long i would be out of work or if I had a job or would still be hired back at my job if and when they opened, and what I would do in the mean time.

At that time decided to take a chance and move myself and my furbaby (Conan) to St Louis Missouri. St Louis is situated along the western bank of the Mississippi River, and is the largest metropolitan area in the state of Missouri .St. Louis is home to two major league sports teams. The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the most successful franchises in Major League Baseball, The St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) who won their first Stanley Cup in 2019. The city of St. Louis has, as of April 2017, the highest murder rate, per capita, in the United States. This is the point of why I want to move I don’t feel safe in the area. There are other things also, but generally just over the area. Though I have had some fun here and have met some great people, it has always been my intention that St Louis was a stop not a permanent home. I was when I first moved here only going to be here for a year or so, just till the casinos on the coast started to rebuild and open again. As fate or whatever is laughing I am stuck here it seems because the pay(job market) here compared to the cost of living makes it hard to save and one you save it seems like fate has other plans .Though, I will perville and move out of this area, not sure where though I know it will probably be somewhere where short can be worn almost year round, and most times a hoodie is ample protection from the cold.

I’ve worked for a few casinos, starting off with The Grand Casino Biloxi, working as bakery prep./baker in the buffet, Then moving on to The New Palace Casino as a baker. Treasure Bay came next as the Assistant Head Baker. Followed by a short stint as Head Baker at The Copa Casino. By this time I was just burned out with the entire bakery sean so I landed a job as a poker room chip runner/ brush back at The Grand Casino, that for me was that dream type job that you never knew you wanted. Then Katrina…… And I moved with help for the company (Harrah’s) to the sister property in St.Louis. That has since been acquired by Penn National Gaming and re-branded as a Hollywood property.

I have been a baker for 28 years mostly with casinos, but also for the past 5 years with grocery stores where I have been a bakery clerk, bakery assistant manager , and bakery manager. I do for the most part enjoy what I do though I know there is more then working the grind for someone else . So I heard about an opportunity from my sister. Nothing to be making millions from just something to start and get my feet wet

I do sell, and promote The Gourmet Cupboard, as an Independent Distributor . I do think that I have a good working experience in the professional food market to endorse The GOURMET CUPBOARD. I haven’t at the time of this writing tried all the mixes, but what I have tried of the The GOURMET CUPBOARD has been worth it in flavor, and ease of preparation.  Each of The GOURMET CUPBOARD mixes are handmade using only the finest gourmet ingredients at just the right proportions. Each of the mixes includes all the dry ingredients, and you simply add one or two other ingredients such as sour cream, water, cream cheese, ground meat, etc. Most mixes contain no msg or preservatives and there are sugar free and gluten free mixes available.

Brief Look At The Gourmet Cupboard

***************************FROM THE COMPANY WEBSITE*******************************

The history of The Gourmet Cupboard is rather interesting, and I would like to share the story with you. After teaching elementary school for 6 years, Melissa Holmes decided to quit and stay at home with her first, soon to be born, son. Kaden was born in August of 2001. School was already back in session, and she began to look around for a hobby to take up. She began a business called Icing on the Cake, where she baked cookies, breads, pies, and other sweets. She custom decorated cakes including wedding cakes. It was very stressful, it began taking up all Her free time, and Her kitchen was constantly covered in greasy icing!!

In the meantime, with her mom, Judy Baker, she had been making homemade gifts for all of their friends. They mixed up some of their favorite family recipes, packaged them in Ziploc bags, typed up the directions, and sent them out for Christmas, wedding, and baby gifts. They had a great response from everyone who tasted them, and then They started experimenting with other recipes. They both always loved to be in the kitchen, baking, cooking, and experimenting. So, they really had fun with this!! They started to give away other mixes, and the popularity of it all began.

They decided to spruce up our packaging a little and see if we could sell our mixes using the name Icing on the Cake. Their first craft show, in the summer of 2002, They only had about 20 different mixes, and they only made about 10 of each one. They were so scared that They wouldn’t sell them. Boy, were They wrong!! They knew immediately that They had a good thing going, and there could definitely be a future in this!

For the next 5 years, they operated out of a specially designed building built by Melissa’s husband, Shannon, and was located adjacent to their home. Its convenient location allowed her to stay at home with Kaden and Kale, who was born in December of 2003.

They also changed the name to Gourmet To Go, and then later to The Gourmet Cupboard, which seemed more fitting, and she has given up the cake business all together!!

After 17 years Melissa’s mom recently retired as her co-partner from The Gourmet Cupboard. JuJu (Grandma Spice) – her name here at the shop, continues to work part time throughout the week, but she is spending more “grandma time” at her house now.

The new partner is one of Melissa’s very best friends, Christy Lee. Christy was an answered prayer. She shares that same important family value and work ethic that Melissa and her mom put in to build this business. Melissa’s weaknesses are Christy’s strengths and vice versa. It is a perfect fit, and Melissa couldn’t be any prouder or happier to have Christy as her partner.

They are a Christian based company, and they consider The Gourmet Cupboard® a blessing to them in many ways. They all work very hard at making the business a truly great one. They take lots of pride in the mixes, in the way they run the company, our quality service, our wonderful employees, and they think that you will too.

They still experiment all the time, sometimes finding exciting new mixes to put together and sometimes throwing out our concoctions, but that is the fun of it all!!

Why The Gourmet Cupboard

Welcome,

I am a 48 year old man who has been in food service ( mostly a baker ) for 30 + years.I have been trying for many years to find something else and have explored many options such as working in other industries but always find my way back to food service. I have in the past tried other MLM type selling such as Mary Kay, and have looked into Pampered Chef, and a few others dealing with food ( should be right up my ally ) though they never panned out because of the time needed to invest in them, and the money needed. As a baker you don’t work normal hours, so scheduling parties was difficult. Then there was the Money part of it. The majority of food service workers live pay check to pay check and barely make it above the yearly federal poverty level. Now that being said when you join most of these MLM’s you pay anywhere from $100 or more then have to maintain a level of $100 or more in sales a month to continue to be an active member, and if you don’t make the sales then you have to pay out of your own pocket to make the difference. This I’m sorry to say was way to much for my budget, and the people on the up -line just seemed to be to pushy with trying to make sales or sign up new recruits. Then the last and final problem the market was over saturated with independent sales people in these companies. All this just left me despondent in being able to start my own business how ever small. So why after these experiences am i trying again with The Gourmet Cupboard ? Well one the cost to “join” was low ,$25, and then you got that back with your first order in the for of a coupon for $25. So it comes out to really being “Free to Join” . Two as far as the monthly “fee” to continue to be an active distributor is $100 every 6 months ( twice a year from January to June and then from July to December. If someone joins The Gourmet Cupboard during the middle of a sales period, they will begin tracking purchases the following sales period. This gives the distributor time to try some mixes out for themselves and get familiar with the product and the company before having to meet their required sales.) This really just equals out to less then $17 a month ( much better then the $100 or more from other companies ). The Gourmet Cupboard is also a small company and only has about 800 distributors across the country leaving lots of room for growth and team building. I don’t plan on breaking the bank and earning my millions with this company, but i do plan on supplementing my income, while building an amazing team, and enjoying some great products.

Thank You ,
